Jan & Marius Eksteen began breeding Black Hartebeest in 2009, starting with a carefully selected foundation group from the main farm for an intensive breeding project.

Through disciplined selection, sound management, and a true passion for wildlife, Hatari Farming has developed a herd of exceptional animals known for their quality, colour, and strong trophy appeal.

Year after year, we have seen remarkable progress, with animals becoming darker and more refined. Our long-term vision remains clear: to breed a solid, full black hartebeest — a goal we believe is well within reach.

In 2022, we introduced Black Hartebeest to the hunting market with outstanding success. Demand from the trophy hunting industry continues to grow, confirming the value and appeal of these unique animals.

What started as a small vision has grown into a sought-after bloodline, preferred by discerning trophy hunters and wildlife enthusiasts alike.
